Me and my family were driving around Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and this was one of the most recommended spots for barbecue. Well, not even barbecue, just food in general.

I got it. Let’s try it and rate it 1 to 10.

We spent forty-one dollars and sixty-one cents. The name of this place is Smoked By You. This is a mom-and-pop spot, but it’s been recommended like it’s a community staple. I would have thought this place has 6 or 7 locations, but we pulled up, and when I say mom-and-pop, it’s a small, intimate shack.

We really couldn’t get the inside because, again, Baton Rouge is on high alert, so it’s risky to send any of my family in anywhere. But the person we did have go get food said it was really small. Again, it’s a mom-and-pop spot, but the food in this bag—you got me. I’m excited.

I’mma show you what I got, and we’re gonna try it and rate it with the team.

Mac and cheese, smoked cabbage, and a full-meat plate: chicken, sausage, ribs, and brisket. Forty dollars. Forty dollars and two sides. Come on, Baton Rouge.

We ain’t got no cutlery or like no forks or spoons, but we got mac and cheese and cabbage. So, I’mma eat the rib first, and I’mma use the rib as a fork. Here’s the rib. This looks crazy. You see all of them peppers and smoke in them? I don’t even know if smoke is the word I was looking for, but you know what I was trying to say.

And there’s no barbecue sauce, but it looks like you don’t need it. They didn’t put any on the side either—that’s called confidence.

I haven’t even bitten it yet. It’s real sweet, it’s real smoky. I wish it had more salt, but some salt on this would take it to the next level. Tender is an understatement. That thing fell off the bone. I really didn’t even bite into it. It’s just missing salt, bro. That’s the only thing it’s missing.

As is, I give this a 7.9 out of 10. And that’s high for a rib with no sauce on it. Real high.

That’s a pretty chicken. That’s a gorgeous chicken, girl. I pulled the whole bone out—there goes your spoon. My hands are a mess, but this is the chicken. That’s the juiciest chicken I’ve ever had in my life. It just needs salt. It’s for sure missing salt, or a sauce. Like a sweet, spicy sauce would be… yeah, that’s phenomenal.

They’ve got the bones to be amazing. They’ve got the structure to be absolutely, like, some of the best barbecue I’ve ever had in my life, by far. The chicken, in my opinion, again, with a little more salt, could easily be a 9 for me. But as is, 8 out of 10.

This is the brisket. Like everything, I know not to play with this meat. You can’t even touch it—it’s like literally falling apart. This is the brisket. There she goes.

I’m probably gonna season the rest of the meat like that. It’s a 9.2 out of 10. Of course, it would be the first meat that I drop—it’s the most seasoned, most flavorful, most fatty, most smoked, the juiciest meat.

I don’t know what kind of sausage this is. It looks like a jalapeño sausage. Haha, look at that! It’s the best thing for a sausage, absolutely, and it’s so juicy. They smoking for real. Like, they just let it roll. Yeah, that looks crazy and spicy. I’ve said it—the casing is snappy, it’s super high quality, it’s spicy, it’s salty, it’s smoked, it’s juicy. It’s a 9.5 out of 10, in my opinion.

I think the rib is my favorite. Would you get a rib?

This mac and cheese, and I eat it with the chicken bone because I ain’t got no spoon. This is real ghetto. I haven’t had Velveeta cheese in a minute, but in my opinion, it kind of tastes like Velveeta. It’s very thick. It’s like a real thick cheese. Yeah, I’m not a fan of that. 2 out of 10.

Here’s the cabbage. I don’t even know… check them out. I’mma just take a few pieces like this. The cabbage just tastes like cabbage, in my opinion. 2 out of 10. Does this taste smoked? It tastes like boiled cabbage.

Overall, I truly think they have the potential to be some of the best barbecue I’ve had, in my opinion. Just add some salt or some sauce, and we’re having a different conversation.

But as always, I pray and hope after this, they reach their target audience.

God bless you. Have an amazing day. Y’all be safe.
