OMAKAI Sushi (Miami, Florida) | Influencer Restaurant Review by Keith Lee

AI-Generated Summary: Keith Lee’s OMAKAI Sushi Restaurant Review Video

OMAKAI Sushi reviewed by restaurant food influencer

Keith Lee visits a sushi spot in Miami, Florida, which he considers one of the best places he’s ever had sushi. Despite having a shellfish allergy, he loves this place because it offers many shellfish-free options. He previously visited during a food tour but didn’t share it at the time because he was “gatekeeping” this hidden gem.

He orders three “omakase experience” boxes, which feature 21 different pieces of fish, labeled with instructions on when and how to eat them. The omakase includes greens, sashimi, nigiri, and sushi rolls, with three different sauces. Lee follows the recommended order, starting with the greens to cleanse his palate before moving on to the fish.

Ratings:

  • Seaweed salad (greens): 6/10
  • Salmon sashimi: 8.5/10 (“buttery, firm texture with a sweet onion crunch”)
  • Yellowtail (himachi/amberjack): 9.6/10 (Lee’s favorite)
  • Tuna with rice and seaweed: 8.5/10

Keith emphasizes that this sushi spot remains one of his favorite places and plans to visit every time he’s in Miami.

Some may ask, what’s in my hand? And I will answer: some of the best sushi I’ve ever had in my entire life. And it’s here in Miami, Florida.

And no, we’re not doing another food tour. We’re only out here for a few days, and this is the one thing that was on my mind since we got here. So I wanna see, in my opinion, if it’s still some of the best sushi I’ve ever had.

I got it. Let’s try it and rate it 1 to 10.

We spent $162 because the service, in my opinion, is amazing every time I’ve come here. And when I say every time, the last time I was in Miami doing a food tour, I came here like four times. And the only reason, I’ll admit it, the only reason I didn’t say anything about it, I was gatekeeping. I was. But I was under the impression last time that it was in a ghost kitchen.

The location I went to was a ghost kitchen behind… What’s that mall you like, Babe? The Ghost Kitchen I went to was behind Aventura Mall, so I thought it was a real small, intimate space. Come to find out today, that’s their third location. But the location we’re at right now is Wynwood.

Let me show you what I got, and we’re gonna try it and rate it 1 to 10.

Three omakase experience boxes. The omakase experience is a full sushi experience that you can take home. Now, as somebody who’s got a shellfish allergy, I love this because a lot of times, I can only have salmon, tuna, and that’s it for real. This has so many different options that are shellfish-free. See, they put it on the back: shellfish.

The thing that makes the experience is that every fish in this box is labeled, and it tells you when and how to eat it. They come with chopsticks—one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 19, 20, 21—21 different pieces of fish.

I turned the camera on so you can see. So it’s a full experience. You start from this side—you start with the greens first, which are these. Then you move on to the sashimi, which is this. And then you do the nigiri, which is all of these fishes. Then you move on to the rolls. At any time, you can eat them after, before, or during, however you want to. And it comes with three different sauces.

I’mma follow the box. Like I said, start with the greens. This is to open the palate. I’m not sure what kind of greens these are; I think this is seaweed salad. This is just to get the mouth ready.

Oh, that’s gonna be… That sounded crazy.

I think this is specifically just to get your palate ready so you can actually taste each different fish. It’s just like a seaweed salad—6 out of 10.

This is the sauce I like to use. It comes with three different sauces. My hand is shaking. This is salmon sashimi. It’s just fresh salmon, and I believe it’s onions. I’m tasting like a sweet onion. It’s just buttery for me. I have a texture problem, so I can’t really eat things that are super mushy. But it’s so fresh that it’s like a snappy, firm kind of fish. And the sweet onion really helps me. You can hear me crunching the sweet onion.

8.5 out of 10 in my opinion.

I’m about to eat all these. I’m supposed to be tasting, but I’m really just about to sit here and eat all the nigiri. I’mma just go one by one and just show y’all what’s in here. I’mma eat all of these.

One bite. Japanese seabream, bronzino (which is a European seabass). Let’s see if you can guess which one’s my favorite. I’m gonna say it at the end.

Seabass. Hmm.

Bingo. Which is avocado tuna. Hmm.

Now we move on to the rich flavors and textures. This is a durrade, which is a European seabream. Night and day. Himachi or yellowtail or amberjack. They got three different names. There she go. Oh, hell yeah. There she go.

Kambachi or great amberjack. Mystery 1—I have no idea what this is. Hotaro, or fatty bluefin tuna belly. We’re moving into the stronger flavor pieces, and this is super strong. The second category is more rich. This is just strong. It’s not super fishy, but it’s what I’m looking for. It tastes like protein—almost strong.

Last but not least, because I have a shellfish allergy, I think they doubled up on the amberjack.

In real time, it took me maybe like five minutes to eat all of that. Would you say? I would say that’s probably less than that. When I tell you all of those are passing high for me, especially the yellowtail. The yellowtail, in my opinion, is a 9.6 out of 10.

I think this is just tuna. This is tuna, rice, and seaweed. 8.5 out of 10 overall.

Is this still one of my favorite places I’ve ever had sushi at? Absolutely. It’s not even a question. This is one of my favorite things, and every time I come to Miami, I’m going straight here.

As always, after this, I pray and hope that they continue to reach their target audience. God bless you. Have an amazing day. Y’all be safe.

Boy, I’m about to eat the rest of that box and probably a second box.
